J-bar is a mechanical device that is commonly used in the skiing industry to move skiers uphill. J-bar is also referred to as a T-bar, T-lift or a T-bar lift. Another term for J-bar is a platter lift which is a variation of the J-bar lift. The device operates by pulling skiers up the slope using an overhead cable which drags the skier along the terrain.
