Frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. FTLD is commonly known as frontotemporal dementia (FTD) or Pick's disease. Other synonyms for this condition include frontotemporal degeneration, Pick's complex, and cortical basal degeneration. FTLD can manifest with a wide range of symptoms including personality changes, speech and language impairments, and loss of executive function. It is a progressive and debilitating disease that can have a profound impact on an individual's quality of life. There is currently no cure for FTLD, but there are treatments available to manage the symptoms and improve quality of life for those affected.
