Hypnology is the study of hypnosis and its applications in medicine, therapy and, psychology. There are several other terms used to describe the same field of study. These include hypnosis therapy, clinical hypnosis, hypnotherapy, hypnotic suggestion, and hypnotism. Each term has its interpretation, but they all refer to the same basic idea of using hypnosis techniques in therapy. Hypnology related fields include neurolinguistic programming (NLP), regression therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). The use of hypnosis as a psychological tool dates back to ancient times. The study and application of hypnology have grown over the years, and it continues to be an increasingly popular alternative therapy for many people.
