Arthritis fungosa, also known as fungal arthritis, is a condition characterized by joint inflammation that is caused by a fungal infection. Some common synonyms for this condition include mycotic arthritis, fungal joint infection, and candidal arthritis. Other terms you might hear used to describe arthritis fungosa include septic arthritis, infectious arthritis, and microbial arthritis. Depending on the type of fungal infection that is causing the condition, other words might be used as well, such as blastomycosis, histoplasmosis, and coccidioidomycosis. Regardless of the terminology used, however, arthritis fungosa can be a serious and debilitating condition that requires prompt and often aggressive treatment.
