Big data is a term that refers to large sets of data which can be analyzed to reveal trends, patterns, and other insights that can be used to improve decision-making and business operations. However, in recent years, the term "big data" has become quite broad and encompassing. As a result, several new terms have emerged to describe subsets of big data such as dark data, fast data, smart data, and edge data. Dark data refers to information that is collected but not analyzed, fast data pertains to data that is generated at high speed in real-time, smart data is data that has been organized and processed to extract insights, and edge data refers to data that is produced by devices located at the edge of a network.
