How to use "Bordure" in context?
Bordure is a decorative edging, ordinarily including a band of material, around the edge of an object. The term originated in a more general sense in the Middle Ages, to describe any bands, edges, or lines around an object. The motif can be geometric, naive, painterly, or a purely decorative element.
One of the earliest uses of the term Bordure is in a poem by Guillaume de Lorris, written about 1124. In it, the goddesses Diana and Hermaphrodite are walking through the forest, when they come across a stag with its hindquarters bloody from a hunting pursuit.
