How to use "Borstal" in context?
Borstal is a former juvenile correctional institution in England and Wales for young people between the ages of 12 and 18 who have committed offences. The institution was first opened on 22 March 1912 as a voluntary home for boys who had broken the law. Borstal was renamed Young Offenders Institution (YOI) in 1972 and Residential School for Young Offenders in 1991. In 2013, it merged with nearby HMP Young Offenders to form HMP Borstal and Young Offenders Hertfordshire.
