Caste mark, also known as caste badge, is a distinctive sign or symbol used to identify a person's caste or social status. However, the use of such marks in modern times is declining, as people in society become more conscious about equality and individuality. In place of the term 'caste mark', different synonyms can be used like a caste symbol, caste emblem, identity sign, social marker and caste token. The common use of such terms signifies the fact that this practice is still prevalent in many parts of the world, particularly in India. Thus, it becomes essential that we promote the concept of equality and discourage the use of such marks, which divide people into groups based on their societal status.
