Colorimeters are important tools used in several industries to measure the color intensity of a given sample. Although there are no direct synonyms for colorimeter, some related terms can collectively imply similar functionality. Spectrophotometer, for instance, is a closely related term. It measures the absorbance or transmission of light by a sample and maps the results against the visible spectrum. Another related concept is chroma meter, which measures saturation, hue, and lightness of color.
