Desman, also known as the Russian desman, is a semi-aquatic mammal that belongs to the family Talpidae. This animal is characterized by its long, pointy snout, webbed feet, and dense, waterproof fur. Although there are no direct synonyms for the word desman, some researchers refer to this animal as the "Russian mole" or simply the "water mole". Other variations of the term desman include the "desman shrew" or "desman mole", both of which relate to the animal's physical appearance.
