Donato Bramante was an Italian architect who is credited with introducing the High Renaissance style of architecture in Italy. He was born in Urbino, Italy in the year 1444 and worked extensively in Rome, where he designed some of the most iconic buildings of the Renaissance period. Bramante is best known for designing the Tempietto, a small temple located in the courtyard of the San Pietro in Montorio church in Rome. He is also known for designing the Palazzo Caprini, the Santa Maria presso San Satiro and the cloister of Santa Maria della Pace. Bramante is synonymous with the Renaissance period and his architectural style can be seen in many buildings, both in Italy and around the world.
