Green audit is a process that involves examining and assessing the environmental impact of a particular company, organization, or facility. Synonyms for the term green audit include environmental audit, sustainability audit, eco-audit, and ecological audit. Each of these terms puts emphasis on different aspects of the examination process. While the term environmental audit focuses on the environmental impact of a particular entity, the term sustainability audit puts emphasis on whether the entity is able to maintain their impact in the long-term. Similarly, eco-audit highlights the eco-friendliness of an entity, and ecological audit puts emphasis on preserving the ecology of the area where the entity operates. Nevertheless, all of these terms describe a similar process of assessing whether an entity is operating with minimum environmental impact.
