There are various ways to describe the half lotus seating position that is commonly used in meditation and yoga. Some synonyms include ardha padmasana, which is the Sanskrit term for half lotus, and semi-lotus or demi-lotus. It is also sometimes called half-crossed leg pose, where one leg is crossed in front of the other with the foot placed on the opposite thigh. In addition, the half lotus may be referred to as a half-bound lotus or single lotus because only one leg is in the full lotus position while the other is extended forward.
