Half-backs are generally known as a player position in sports, especially in football. However, this position has synonyms that are equally popular in other games. Midfielder, Center-half, and Wing-half are some of the synonyms for Half-back in football, whereas Point guard, Shooting guard, and Small forward can be used interchangeably with the position of Half-back in basketball. In rugby, Scrum-half and Fly-half refers to similar positions as Half-back. Different sports may have other synonyms for Half-back, but they all have a similar role in the game.
