Hugo Devries was born on December 18th, 1924 in the Netherlands. Devries is a Dutch artist and sculptor. Devries was born in the town of Vught. Devries began his artistic career in 1950, and he worked as a painter and sculptor until the late 1970's. In 1963, Devries completed his first sculpture, "The Female Head". In 1968, Devries completed his second sculpture, "The Sacrifice". Devries is known for his sculptures of static and statuesque figures, which often convey a sense of stillness and weight. Devries is also known for his abstract paintings and his work on stained glass.
