The Hussites were a religious movement and a group of followers of the teachings of Jan Hus, a Czech philosopher and theologian who spoke out against the corruption of the Catholic Church in Bohemia in the early 15th century. Synonyms for the term Hussites can include Hussite movement, Hussite rebellion, Hussite Wars, and followers of Jan Hus. They are also referred to as Czech reformers, Bohemian Revolutionaries, and Christian reformers. Other used terms are Hussito, Hussita, and Hussitism. The Hussite teachings and ideas inspired many other religious reformers, including Martin Luther, and influenced the Protestant Reformation in Europe.
