Jean Claude Duvalier, also known as "Baby Doc", was a former Haitian dictator who ruled the country from 1971 to 1986. Synonyms for Jean Claude Duvalier include Baby Doc, Duvalier Jr., and Duvalier the second. He inherited the power from his father Francois Duvalier, or "Papa Doc." During his time in power, Jean Claude Duvalier was known for his notorious regime that committed human rights violations, political oppression, and financial corruption. His regime was marked by the use of death squads, torture, and other forms of violence against political dissenters and journalists. Despite facing several attempted coups, Jean Claude Duvalier managed to hold on to power until he was finally forced to flee the country in 1986.
