Jonathan Trumbull (March 27, 1752 - May 17, 1829) was an American lawyer and politician. He was the fourth Governor of Connecticut, serving from 1818 to 1821. As Governor, Trumbull helped lead the fight for statehood for the Connecticut Constitution of 1818. He served in the United States Congress from 1803 to 1813, and was the 18th United States Secretary of War from 1813 to 1815. He also served as the 22nd United States Senator from Connecticut from 1815 to 1829.
