Re-examinations refer to assessments taken by students upon failing an initial exam. There are various synonyms to describe this process which is sometimes also called a retake, a retest or a resit. A resit is a commonly used term in the UK and is used to indicate a second attempt at an examination. Retake and retest both refer to the process of taking a test again after previously failing, however, a retake may imply that the student is attempting the test again in its entirety, while a retest may suggest that only specific parts of the test are retaken. Whatever term is used, the objective of the process is to give students another opportunity to succeed in their academic endeavors.
