How to use "Salmo" in context?
Salmo is a genus of Trout found in most of North America. The five species in this genus are small and all of which prefer cool, flowing water. All but one of the Salmo species are placed in the subgenus Satyrus. The exception is the Salmo trutta, the common trout of most of Europe and Asia. The genus is named for the Swedish naturalist and poet Olof Christopher Salm, 1759-1827.
