Sea calf is a term used to refer to a young seal, specifically of the species Phoca vitulina (common seal). However, there are several other synonyms that can also be used to refer to this aquatic mammal. These include seal pup, seal kit, seal baby, seal pupling, and seal whelp. All of these terms essentially refer to the juvenile form of seals, which typically spend much of their early years on land or ice.
