Sensorimotor disorders affect a person's ability to coordinate sensations and movements. There are several synonyms for this condition. This includes motor impairment, which refers to a limited ability to use muscles effectively for physical actions. Another synonym is sensory integration disorder which can cause difficulty in processing sensory information. Developmental coordination disorder is also a term used for sensorimotor disorders that can affect a child's development of physical abilities and/or movement.
