How to use "Sodom" in context?

Sodom was a city in Ancient Judea, located in the Southern Hill Country. Referred to by the Hebrew word "gehinnom", meaning "the valley of destruction", Sodom was destroyed by God as punishment for its wickedness. According to the Hebrew Bible, God told Abraham to go to the land of Canaan and inhabit it, but to not settle in the city of Sodom because it was "full of people whom the Lord God detests". Abraham, however, ignored God's warning and settled in the city, where he and his nephew Lot were unable to withstand the intense sexual temptation that surround it.
