Impurity refers to the presence of something that makes a substance or object dirty or unclean. Toxicity, on the other hand, describes the state of being harmful or poisonous. Infection implies the contamination and spread of infectious agents like bacteria and viruses. Pollution describes the harmful presence of chemicals, noise or waste in the environment while decay and putridness refer to the process of decomposition and resulting unpleasant smells of organic matter.
