The acronym WMDS, or Weapons of Mass Destruction, is commonly used to refer to weapons that are capable of causing widespread harm and destruction. However, this term is becoming increasingly outdated and politically charged, leading to the use of alternative synonyms. Some of these synonyms include CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) weapons, mass casualty weapons, and unconventional weapons. Other terms that have been used include catastrophic weapons, doomsday devices, and strategic weapons. While these terms may not be as widely recognized as WMDS, they offer more neutral and descriptive alternatives that could be useful in conversations about national security and global safety.
