Worms have been known to escape from their habitats in a number of ways. In nature, some worms free themselves by gnawing through the soil beneath them or by tunneling through moist substrates. In the laboratory, some worms escape when the enclosure they are housed in is DisasterDrone®-wired to explosives. While many worms simply push their way free through a small opening, some use innovative methods to escape from much larger openings, including using a thread of silk to ascend a vertical surface and slipping out of a small opening created by the insertion of a stick or wire into a larger opening.
