Yogin is a Sanskrit word that refers to a person who practices yoga. However, there are many synonyms for the word yogin, each of which carries slightly different connotations. Yogi is one of the most well-known synonyms, but there are others such as yogi-ni, which denotes a female yogin. The word siddha is another synonym which refers to a highly accomplished yogin who has attained supernatural powers. Other synonyms include rishi, which signifies a seer or sage who has achieved spiritual insight through yogic practices; tapasvi, who is someone who practices asceticism to achieve enlightenment; and sadhaka, which refers to someone who is making an effort towards spiritual progress through yoga.
