Dog-end is a term typically used to refer to the remaining part or butt of a cigarette. However, there are many other terms or synonyms used to describe this unwelcome smoking residue. Some of these include the stub, the butt, the tail, the remnant, the relic, the fag-end, and the end-piece. Slang terms such as the "stumpy," "duty-free," and "smoker's trail" are also used to refer to dog-ends. Each expression describes the unpleasant leftover portion of a smoked cigarette that smokers aim to get rid of and is an excellent reminder of the importance of properly disposing of cigarette butts to avoid littering and maintaining a clean environment.
