Harkat ul-Mujahedeen (HuM) is a militant group that originated in Afghanistan and is active in Pakistan and India. It is also known as Harkat ul-Ansar, and after being banned by Pakistan, it changed its name to Jamiat-ul-Ansar. Another name that is sometimes used for HuM is Al-Hadid. The group is known for its links to Al-Qaeda and its involvement in terrorist attacks, including the kidnapping of western tourists in Kashmir and a suicide bombing in India. The use of different names by the group is a tactic commonly employed by militant organizations to avoid detection and circumvent legal restrictions.
