Heyde's syndrome, also known as aortic stenosis gastrointestinal angiodysplasia syndrome or von Willebrand disease, is a rare medical condition where the body's blood clotting system is impaired. This syndrome is characterized by the presence of both aortic stenosis, a narrowing of the aortic valve, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Although Heyde's syndrome is a commonly used term to describe this condition, it is also referred to as Heyde's disease, Heyde's anomaly, and Heyde's combination. The condition is named after Edward Heyde, who first described the link between aortic stenosis and gastrointestinal bleeding in 1958. Despite the different names used to refer to this syndrome, the underlying medical condition remains the same.
