Linosyris vulgaris, commonly known as goldenweed or common goldentop, is a species of herbaceous plants in the sunflower family. It typically grows in dry, open habitats, including prairies, fields, and disturbed areas. Occasionally, it is also found in gardens and on roadsides.
There are several synonyms for Linosyris vulgaris, which include Chrysoma pulchellum, Chrysoma spathulatum, Chrysoma vulgaris, Haplopappus spathulatus, and Solidago carnosum. Although they refer to the same plant, Linosyris vulgaris is the currently accepted scientific name.
Goldenweed is admired for its vibrant yellow flowers that bloom from midsummer to early autumn, attracting pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and hoverflies.
