Conorenal syndrome is a medical condition that affects the heart and kidneys. Also known as hyporeninemic hypoaldosteronism, it is a rare genetic disorder characterized by an abnormality in the renin-aldosterone system, leading to excess potassium and low sodium levels in the blood. Some other synonyms for conorenal syndrome include Type 4 renal tubular acidosis, hyperkalemic renal tubular acidosis, non-anion gap metabolic acidosis, or aldosterone resistance. This condition can lead to various health issues such as acidosis, muscle weakness, and heart palpitations. While there is no cure for conorenal syndrome, management with a low-potassium diet and medications such as diuretics or supplements can improve symptoms.
