Hemimotor neglect, also commonly known as hemi-inattention or unilateral neglect, is a neurological condition that occurs when a person is unaware of one half of their body. This condition can affect the ability to perform daily activities such as getting dressed or brushing teeth. Some synonyms for hemimotor neglect include hemi-spatial neglect, hemi-attention deficit, and unilateral neglect syndrome. Other names used to describe this condition may include neglect dyslexia and visuo-spatial neglect. Although the condition is commonly associated with stroke patients, it can also occur in individuals with traumatic brain injuries or other neurological diseases. Treatments for hemimotor neglect may include physical therapy, occupational therapy, and cognitive rehabilitation.
