Hottentot Fig is a succulent plant native to South Africa. It is also known as Ice Plant, Pigface or Trailing Iceplant. The Hottentot Fig is a low-growing plant that forms a dense mat and produces bright pink or magenta flowers in the summer. Another common name for Hottentot Fig is Cape Fig because of its origin in the Cape Province of South Africa. Pigface is a reference to the thick fleshy leaves that resemble the snout of a pig. Some people also call it Sea Fig or Beach Banana because it grows in sandy coastal areas. Despite having different names, they all refer to the same plant - Hottentot Fig.
