Tarsal glands, also referred to as Meibomian glands, are found in the eyelids and secrete an oily substance that helps to lubricate and protect the eyes. Other synonyms for tarsal glands include Zeis glands, which are also found in the eyelids and produce oil, and Moll glands, which are located in the eyelashes and produce sweat. Additionally, the glands of Montgomery, which are located around the nipples of humans, produce oil and are sometimes referred to as tarsal glands. While these glands may have different locations and functions, they all play a role in protecting different parts of the body.
