An attributor is someone who assigns or associates certain qualities or characteristics to a person, situation or object. There are several synonyms for the word attributor some of which include ascriber, imputer, assignor, allographer and identifier. Ascriber and imputer both refer to someone who places responsibility or credit on a person or event. Assignor is someone who assigns certain tasks or roles to specific people while allographer refers to someone who makes handwritten copies of written documents. An identifier on the other hand is someone who endeavors to distinguish an individual or an object by certain characteristics.
