Nanus is a genus of ground sloths in the family Megalonychidae. There are four extant species: the Brazilian Dianne, the Mexican Tapir, the Peruvian Sloth, and the Antilles Sloth. Two extinct species are known from fossils: the Dominican Sloth and the Nicaraguan Sloth.
Nanus are the smallest ground sloth, and are the only species of sloth that does not have a prehensile tail. They have long, furry ears, and their fur is covered in large, soft, guard hairs. They have long claws on their feet, and their tail is shorter than their other limbs.
