How to use "St francis" in context?
Saint Francis of Assisi was born in 1182 in Italy, into a family of wealthy cloth merchants. At a young age, Francis was influenced by a hermit in the hills near Assisi and vowed to lead a life of poverty and humility. After years of teaching and preaching, Francis was finally able to convert a wealthy Baron in 1208. Many followers followed Francis, and soon he had founded over sixty monasteries, including the famous Navel of Assisi. Francis died in 1226, and was canonized by the Catholic Church in 1228. He is a popular saint, and his feast day is celebrated annually on October 4th.
