Swietinia is a genus of flowering plants in the daisy family, Asteraceae.

The genus is centered in east-central North America and includes about 30 species of annual and perennial herbs. Many are common shrubs or small trees in dry open habitats, such as deserts, rocky slopes, and woodland edges. They are notable for their fine, hairy leaves, intricate flower heads, and loyalty to sunny sites.

Numerous spice plants, including black pepper, paprika, ginger, cardamom, and coriander, are thought to have developed from wild ancestors that grew in swietinia habitats.
