Tritoma, commonly known as red hot poker, is a genus of flowering plants native to South Africa. Despite its limited nomenclature, this plant species has several synonyms, including Kniphofia, Torch Lily, and Poker Plant. The Torch Lily nomenclature is derived from the plant's resemblance to a flaming torch, while the Poker Plant moniker is due to its tall stalk-like blossoms that resemble oversized fire pokers. A favorite of gardeners, Tritomas also attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators due to their vibrant colors.
