Ashshaytan is an Arabic term that refers to the devil or Satan. In Islamic belief, Ashshaytan is an evil spirit that tempts humans to sin and leads them astray from the path of righteousness. There are several synonyms for Ashshaytan that are used in Quran and Islamic literature, such as Iblis, the accursed one, the cursed one, the deceiver, the tempter, the adversary, the enemy of God, the rebel, the deviant, the impure one, the demon, and the infernal one.
