Baygall, also known as bayhead, is a type of wetland commonly found in the southeastern United States. This swampy environment is characterized by the presence of bay trees and other woody shrubs, along with marshy vegetation, standing water, and seasonal flooding. There are several other terms used to describe similar wetland habitats, including bog, fen, marsh, and swamp. While these terms are similar in their emphasis on wetland environments, they each have unique characteristics that differentiate them from one another. For example, bogs are known for their acidic soil and sphagnum moss, while fens are characterized by their nutrient-rich water and sedges.
