Copperas, commonly known as iron(II) sulfate, is a chemical compound with various synonyms. In chemistry, it is also referred to as ferrous sulfate, green vitriol, or iron vitriol. The term "copperas" is derived from the Medieval Latin word "cuprum" meaning copper, although the chemical compound does not contain any copper.
