How to use "Monochamus" in context?
Monochamus is a solitary bee that lives exclusively in the deserts of eastern North America. The bee has a drab coloration and is about the size of a bumblebee. It is the sole species of its genus and the only bee in North America that exclusively lives in the desert.
Until recently, scientists believed that monochamus was a subspecies of the bumblebee, Bombus impatiens. However, in 2008, a study published in the journal Systematic Entomology revealed that monochamus is, in fact, a separate species.
