There are two varieties of Os Ischii- the Os Ischii blanco (syn. Dasylirion acuminatum) and the Os Ischii orientalis (syn. Chrysanthemum coronarium).
Os Ischii is endemic to the highlands of central and southern Chile.
Together with Chrysanthemum coronarium, Os Ischii forms the Monte Verde National Park's trademark Three-Lobed chrysanthemum.
