How to use "Gelt" in context?
Gelt is a term used to describe the gold currency in the medieval period. Medieval Europe was divided into two classes - the wealthy nobility and the peasantry. The peasantry did not have any real way of getting rich other than through plundering the noble's land. Peasants could only afford to buy very basic necessities like food, clothing and shelter. The only way for them to get anything more was by working off their debts to the noble or by selling their belongings to the nobility. There was also a class of traders who would buy and sell goods in the town markets.
