How to use "Antediluvian" in context?
The first humans may have evolved from earlier primates some time around 4.54 billion years ago. These predecessors would eventually become the first known mammals - creatures who could move on their own, graze on vegetation, and give birth to live young. However, some 4.1 to 3.8 billion years ago, a very different kind of animal roamed the planet.
These creatures, dubbed "antediluvians," were contemporaries of the first mammals and were similar in some ways. However, they lacked many of the things that would eventually make mammals so successful and successful.
